Border Police reports more offences in 2010 than in 2009

According to the Border Police (PFR) report presented yesterday, in 2010, the Romanian institution identified more cases of illegal migration, stolen cars and cigarette smuggling across the border than in 2009, the rise in the number of offences being by 10 per cent. More than 15,000 people, 1,500 of whom were foreign na­tionals, were punished in total. The value of the fines exceeded RON 4.5 M. According to PFR, the predominant crimes at the borders are illegal migration, forgery and uttering, as well as smuggling.
