11 suppliers of Ford will invest in Craiova, 9 of them inside the car factory

Until now, 11 part suppliers of giant carmaker Ford announced their intention to invest in Craiova, 9 of them inside the factory operated by the US company, the deputy mayor of Craiova, Marinica Dinca announced Wednesday, quoted by Mediafax. “The Oltcit factory was built more than 40 years ago and technology has since evolved, so Ford no longer needs many manufacturing halls, plus some land, and it is very convenient for them to have their suppliers within the same premises,” Dinca said in a press conference.

Officials of the companies that will not invest inside the car factory, accompanied by Ford representatives, already visited several plants located in Craiova, which might provide them with land and utilities. The deputy mayor denied that International Automotive Corporation (IAC) – a supplier of parts for the car manufacturer – first got in touch with Craiova local authorities, before announcing it will build a factory in the town of Bals (Olt County), 25 km away from Craiova.
