The Metropolitan of Cluj, Alba, Crisana and Maramures, Bartolomeu Anania, was brought back to the country on a special flight from Vienna, after the Austrian doctors decided, following tests, that the patient’s condition prevents heart surgery, “Romania libera” reports, in its online edition. He was met at the airport by a group of priests. “The Metropolitan’s health condition is critical. He was brought in intubated. His condition was aggravated by his age and by everything he’s been through,” the Assistant Bishop, Vasile Somesanu, stated, quoted by Realitatea TV. Anania will turn 90 this March.
