Popular actor Piersic inaugurates movietheatre named after him

Theatre and film actor Florin Piersic inaugurated, on Wednesday night, a movie theatre in Cluj bearing his name. The actor came to the event on horseback and wearing a coat reminiscent of his trademark character, Margelatu, whose name was bestowed, in fact, to the café opened in the theatre’s foyer.

The Cluj-born actor also unveiled the sign set up on the occasion of the cinema’s modernization and renaming, surrounded by the several hundred people who came to wish him many happy returns as January 27 marks his 75th birthday. The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Sorin Apostu, fellow-artists and over 700 people, whom the movie theatre could barely contain. The host of the event was the president of the Transylvania International Film Festival, Tudor Giurgiu, who stated he was delighted with the high standards offered by the Cluj cinema, whose modernization had cost over EUR 1 M.
