Gershwin concert to open Radio Romania’s Jazz Season

A concert dedicated to George Gershwin will take place on February 9 within Bucharest’s Act Theatre and will open the Jazz Season organized by Radio Romania’s and Radio Romania Cultural’s Orchestras and Choirs, Mediafax informs. The Season, set to last from February to June 2011, will include five monthly recitals of various themes, given by members of the Radio’s Big Band and students of the Bucharest-based National Music University. The Season debuts on February 9, at 7 PM, within the Act Theatre, with a programme dedicated to George Gershwin, one of the most popular Jazz composers. The concert, titled “Gershwin’s Beautiful World,” will include the following performers: Ana Cristina Leonte (voice), Cristian Soleanu (saxophones), Ciprian Pop (guitar), George Natsis (piano), Michael Acker (double bass) and Vlad Popescu (drums). The programme includes the following plays: “Fascinating Rhythm,” “Someone to Watch over Me,” “The Man I Love,” “Summertime” and “They Can’t Take That Away from Me.”
