Famous pianist opens Enescu Concerts series in London

Pianist Eduard Stan, one of the leading experts in the works of George Enescu, will open the 2011 series of ‘Enescu Concerts’ at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London today, HotNews reported. The programme will include Enescu’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 in C major, but also works by Grieg, Liszt and Schubert. Stan, together with violinist Remus Azoitei, was the first to record all of Enescu’s compositions for piano and violin, in 2007. The pianist has held concerts in several countries across Europe and in the United States, in various prestigious concert hall and festivals. The ‘Enescu Concerts’ programme is a joint initiative of the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Enescu Society, which has so far managed to attract exceptional musicians and famous ensembles that offered unique interpretations of Enescu’s works.
