Tundrea case suspect in custody for burglary case

The man suspected to have committed a murder in Pojogeni, in 1992, for which the late Marcel Tundrea was wrongly convicted and sentenced to 12 years in prison, was held by police Tuesday evening for breaking into the home a female senior citizen from Ticleni, assaulting her, and for driving a motor vehicle under influence and without a permit too. Marcel Tundrea was arrested in 1992 and charged with killing and raping a woman, for which he was sentenced to 25 years in jail, of which he served 12. A DNA test taken in 2004 showed Tundrea could not have committed the murder, which was consistent with the man always professing his innocence. Marcel Tundrea died of diseases contracted while in prison, his demise happening before the High Court of Cassation and Justice definitely ruled he was innocent.
