Agriculture min. to reimburse ANIF spending of RON 15 M

The Agriculture Ministry will pay from its 2011 budget the RON 15 M spent last year by the National Land Melioration Administration (ANIF) on electricity bills at pumping stations and infrastructure overhaul, Mediafax reports.

The rush to pay is grounded in Dec 2010 ANIF spending not being paid back as of yet. Under the draft document, “this makes drainage pump station operations impossible, which results in water not being drained from tillable farmland and from those lands to be sowed this coming spring, along with the failure to carry out the measures and works stipulated by the national defence plan against flooding, ice deposits, construction accidents and accidental pollution, as well as maintenance works for drainage complexes and combating soil erosion,” the document shows.

Starting from 2011, the ANIF activity including the management, maintenance and overhauling of land meliorations other than irrigations, as well as administrative, property and personnel spending required by ANIF operations, is fully or partially financed by the state budget, through the budget of the Agriculture Ministry.
