CFR Calatori seeks the compensation of its debts to the state

‘CFR Calatori’ asked its overdue debts to the state budget to be compensated with the equivalent sum obtained from the value-added tax (VAT) which it should recover from the budget, company sources announced Friday, quoted by Mediafax. According to data released last week by the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) regarding the sums overdue to the budget by large companies, CFR Calatori had an outstanding debt of RON 80 M at the end of 2010, 60 pc more than a year ago. CFR Calatori mentions that, under the Fiscal Procedure Code, “in the case of the compensations made following a refund request, or the return of a sum owed to the debtor, the debt is extinguished at the date when the refund or reimbursement demand is filed,” and the compensation will be conducted within a maximum 45 days. The company mentions neither the moment when it filed the compensation request, nor if ANAF accepted to reimburse the sum.
