Electricity price may go up 35 pc by 2050

The enforcement of new technologies that will allow generating green energy, plus other factors, will increase the price of electricity by more than 35 pc against its current level, by the year 2050, according to evz.ro. The cost of new technologies will be present in the power bill paid by end users, according to a Eurelectric survey released by Europa Press. The investment plans of the energy sector aim at curbing the dependence from fossil fuel. The head of the Spanish Power Industry Association (Unesa), the Association’s financial analysis division, Ignacio Martinez del Barrio believes that a regulatory effort is needed in order to deal with the challenges of the future. The official asked regulatory bodies to generate a legal framework that will guarantee enough incomes for electricity producers and to all those who demand support, in order to avoid the problems related to the variations of an intermittent renewable energy supply.
