Parliament marks International Day for Fight Against Cancer

The Deputies plenum is marking today the “International Day for Fight Against Cancer” through a message aimed at raising public awareness about cancer, a press release states. During today’s plenum session, Health Commission Chairwoman Rodica Nassar will read a message which will end with one minute of applause for all cancer survivors. The Lower Chamber Standing Bureau approved a request by the Romanian Federation of Cancer Patient Associations (FABC) on marking the “International Day for Fight Against Cancer” by the Chamber of Deputies plenum. Cezar Irimia, the FABC president, said: “(…) Our action is aimed at determining an increasingly high number of people to visit their doctor and change their current attitude on medical checkups. The modern lifestyle is characterized by a great number of features that, unfortunately, may induce this disease. Despite cancer being the second most frequent cause of death worldwide, there are nonetheless many forms of cancer that can be treated if diagnosed in time.”
