Friendlies played by Romanian teams

Steaua defeated Slovenia’s FC Koper (3rd place in the standings), Romeo Surdu scoring from a penalty kick in the 81st minute. The game had a tense finale; Steaua head coach Marius Lacatus taking part in a verbal confrontation with the opposing side’s head coach. Steaua transferred Lucian Burdujan from FC Vaslui in order to replace striker Pantelis Kapetanos who recently signed for CFR Cluj. Unable to use three important defenders (Moti – injured; Diabate and Grigore – summoned at the national team), Dinamo was defeated by Slovenia’s Olympia Ljubljana (7th in the standings), score 2-0. Serbia’s FK Banat Zrenjanin (second tier team) defeated Timisoara, score 1-0. FC Vaslui defeated Republic of Moldova’s title holder Sheriff Tiraspol, score 2-0. Astra Ploiesti defeated Uzbekistan’s title holder Pahtakor Tashkent, score 2-0.
