Presidential adviser Sebastian Lazaroiu says the smouldering conflict visible these days between PSD leader Victor Ponta and PC honourary president Dan Voiculescu is, in fact, the PM position, Hotnews says, quoting blogary.ro. Lazaroiu’s rationale is a relatively simple one and starts from the assumed impeachment of Traian Basescu and fall of the Boc Government, in which case Mircea Geoana, as Speaker of the Senate, would take become acting head of state and would appoint the PM. But Geoana – says Lazaroiu – is closer to Voiculescu than he is to Ponta, although with Ponta he shares the same party. At the same time, the USL protocol stipulates that the premier will only be decided in the summer of 2011, ‘when the candidate for president will be determined by opinion polls as the most popular candidate .
