The spoliation and the annihilation of the middle-class in Romania led not only to the erasure of a world, with all its faults and merits, from collective memory, but also to a rupture between generations and the breakdown of an entire system of values, whose effects we feel to this day in the attempt to recreate a local middle-class”.
