Romanian tennis player Irina Camelia Begu won the ITF tournament in Cali, Columbia (total prizes of USD 100,000), after defeating Laura Pous-Tio (top seed 6) in the final, score 6-3, 7-6 (1). Torrential rainfall interrupted the game for well over three hours after the first set, EFE informs. In order to reach the final Begu defeated Columbia’s Mariana Duque-Marino (top seed 8), score 6-1, 6-0; Czech Republic’s Petra Cetkovska, score 2-6, 6-0, 7-5; Austria’s Patricia Mayer-Achleitner (top seed 4), score 6-4, 6-1; and Germany’s Kathrin Woerle, score 6-1, 6-4. Begu and Elena Bogdan won the doubles tournament, defeating Russia’s Ekaterina Ivanova and Germany’s Kathrin Woerle in the final, score 2-6, 7-6 (6), 11-9.
