Vintu came to court in wheelchair, vows to fight Basescu regime

Sorin Ovidiu Vintu yesterday came to the Bucharest Tribunal in wheelchair and said that he begins the hunt of the Romanian president, because his trial has nothing to do with Justice and is the consequence of his direct struggle against the Traian Basescu regime. Sorin Ovidiu Vintu missed the last three hearings in the trial that has him as accused of favouring Nicolae Popa, because he was admitted to hospital before the hearings, the last time with a broken kneecap. “I want to tell you once again that this trial has nothing to do with Justice. It is just the consequence of my struggle against the Traian Basescu regime, Vintu said upon leaving the courtroom. Sorin Ovidiu Vintu told Judge Camelia Bogdan that he does not trust her judgment and does not want to be interviewed by this magistrate. One of his lawyers said the defense challenges this court, because Judge Camelia Bogdan is the daughter of a victim of the FNI collapse, Nicolae Bogdan, who is also a plaintiff in the civil lawsuit over the collapse of the National Investment Fund (FNI), which led to the sentence against Nicolae Popa.

The court admitted Vintu’s request to leave the courtroom.
