Man hunted for 10 years caught… on TV

A man wanted for fraud, hunted for 10 years, was barely caught, although he frequently appeared on television, being no less than the director of a TV station in Piatra Neamt. Viorel Andrei was caught by the Buzau police in early February while driving at 155 km/h. Initially, the journalist handed an annulled driving license, but later presented as identification another document, which turned out to be forged. Viorel Andrei was detained and identified by his real name. The police officers were unable to identify him before because the database contained an ID photo of him dating since he was 14. All this while, Viorel Plescan created a new identity, with false documents, another social security number and two driving licenses. The prosecutors are still investigating the way in which Plescan managed to get new ID documents, suspecting he may have had a number of accomplices in the Police.
