The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) approved the nationwide fundraiser procedure for the construction of the Nation’s Salvation Cathedral. The works will start after Easter this year, patriarchal vicar bishop Ciprian Campineanul, secretary of the Holy Synod announced Friday, in a press conference at the Patriarchy Palace. “Each Orthodox church, monastery and convent in the eparchies belonging to the Romanian Patriarchy will display a poster featuring the image of the Nation’s Salvation Cathedral, the announcement that an invoice will be issued regardless of the sum, the model of the invoice and the bank accounts where natural or legal persons can donate directly,” the vicar bishop explained. In order to avoid any fraud, the Romanian Patriarchy will entrust nobody with collecting money for the Nation’s Salvation Cathedral, by any means – in public areas, through door-to-door fundraisers, or at the headquarters of state institutions and private companies. The government recently granted the Romanian Patriarchy a financial support worth RON 10 M for the construction of the Nation’s Salvation Cathedral, in 2011.
