The co-president of the Social Liberal Union (USL) Victor Ponta voiced, yesterday, the Union’s condemnation of the fact that the prime-minister Emil Boc had called on the prefects to join the electoral campaign and to wage a battle against two private televisions, that is, Antena 3 and Realitatea TV. “I was not aware that waging war against two private televisions was included among the responsibilities of a prefect,” Ponta said. He argued that what lay, in fact, behind this call to the prefects were the president Traian Basescu’s “obsessions”. “It seems that Mr. Basescu’s obsessions, which he passed on to Mrs. Udrea and Mr. Boc, are the only guidelines for governing at the moment,” Ponta stated. The leader of the Democrat Liberal Party (PDL), prime-minister Emil Boc, called, on Sunday, on the prefects to meet with the voters to explain the positive measures adopted by the Government for economic recovery and to try, to the best of their abilities, to oppose “diversions” launched by USL and the TV channels Realitatea and Antena 3.
