Justice may have new intelligence service as of this year

Yesterday, at the 2010 National Prison Administration work report meeting, Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu announced a new draft law to be finalized this year, under which a new intelligence service will be set up within the Ministry of Justice, following the disappearance of SIPA. According to the minister, the new service should also deal with the archives of the former service. Predoiu said the task of the new service would be to feed intelligence to the National Prison Administration (ANP) workers on imminent serious prison events, by that assuring an effective intervention. In addition, the minister noted that the first inventory of the SIPA archives had not been very efficient, the reason being flaws contained in the original regulations.
