Vosganian and Nica, investigated by DNA

The former Economy Minister, Varujan Vosganian, and the former Minister of Communications, Dan Nica, are the object of a criminal investigation in the Romanian Post case. The two are charged with abuse in office. Businessman Sorin Creteanu is also investigated, in the same case, being suspected of acting as accessory to abuse in office. The case in which the three are involved is derived from the one in which the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors deferred to justice, at the end of last year, the former Justice Minister, Tudor Chiuariu. The latter was charged, alongside representatives of the Romanian Post, of having caused EUR 8.6 M-damages to the state budget, by transferring a building from the state property to the private company Imopost Developments SA. Chiuariu and the former Minister of Communications, Zsolt Nagy, issued a resolution which altered the building’s status, allowing it to be taken over by Imopost. The resolution was issued although a litigation regarding ownership rights over the building was in progress.
