Eckstein vs. Kelemen

Eckstein Kovacs Peter, one of the candidates for UDMR’s Presidency, claims that Kelemen Hunor, his main opponent, lacks “credibility” when talking about a possible change within the party.

“Kelemen lacks credibility because in the last 5-10 years he has been a member of the party’s decisional structure, an executive president, a Minister. Since he hasn’t brought about change until now I don’t think he’ll do it from now on. I’ve seen that those who want a change within UDMR form a majority and I’m perceived as the man of change,” Eckstein stated yesterday during a press conference in Cluj.

UDMR’s Congress will take place on Saturday and Sunday in Oradea. The new party president will be elected during the Congress after current party president Marko Bela announced that he no longer wants a term in office. Culture Minister Kelemen Hunor, Presidential advisor on ethnic minority issues Eckstein Kovacs Peter and MP Olosz Gergely have filed their bids.
