Ministry sells valuable plot of land “for peanuts”

At a time of crisis when the government complains that it lacks sufficient funds for investments, the Development Ministry is selling an extremely valuable plot of land at the price of a Dacia, Realitatea TV informs. The plot of land concerned consists of 40 per cent of the Saliste domain in Sibiu County, a place where Nicu Ceausescu, the son of former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, used to spend his holidays. Documents that prove the damaging transaction were presented exclusively on Realitatea TV’s “Yes or No” show.

In November last year the Development Ministry put up for tender the part of the Saliste domain that the Romanian state owned. A man that is in Forbes’s list of the top richest Romanians has paid a meager EUR 10,000 for 36.2 per cent of the 5-hectare plot of land. The bidding started at a price of RON 23 per share and since the Development Ministry had 4,186 shares the whole package was sold for RON 96,278. The lucky winner is Dumitru Domnariu who already owned the remaining 60 per cent of the plot of land. Contacted by Realitatea TV, Dumitru Domnariu did not want to make any comments.
