Irina Columbeanu stays with her father until divorce is over

Buftea Court of Law yesterday ruled that Irina Columbeanu, daughter of businessman Irinel Columbeanu, remains in his father’s care at his Izvorani residence until a definitive ruling on the case.

The Court passed the decision after Irinel Columbeanu had stated that his four-year-old daughter couldn’t adjust herself to the lifestyle in the USA, where she stayed for a while with her mother, Monica Columbeanu. After she returned to Romania, Irina was seen by psychologists who learned she had not adjusted to the American lifestyle, Irinel Columbeanu said. Buftea Court of Law rejected Monica Columbeanu’s request that Irina should be entrusted to her until the divorce is pronounced.

Monica Columbeanu filed for divorce from her husband Irinel Columbeanu, with March 21 being set as the first date in court. Separately, Monica filed an application to get legal custody of her daughter, via a presidential ordinance, an emergency procedure allowing a mother to obtain temporary custody of her child until a definitive divorce ruling is passed, which resulted in the District 1 Hall, as tutelary authority, also being taken to court.

Businessman Irinel Columbeanu and model Monica Gabor got married in July 2006, nearly five months after they met. They tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Irinel’s villa at Izvorani.
