Romanian currency reaches new peak at 4.2108 RON/EUR

The Central Bank (BNR) announced yesterday a reference exchange rate of 4.2108 RON/EUR and 3.0403 RON/ USD. This is the highest rate for the Romanian currency after June 3, 2010 when BNR posted a reference exchange rate of 4.2150 RON/EUR. An ING Bank forecast takes into account a correction of the exchange rate after March, with the Romanian currency going down towards 4.25 RON/EUR, even 4.3 RON/EUR, and returning around 4.2 RON/EUR at the end of the year. In its turn, Erste Bank estimates an exchange rate of 4.2 RON/EUR in March and 4.15 RON/EUR this summer. Raiffeisen Bank forecasts a stable evolution of RON, somewhere around 4.2 RON/EUR. (C. S.)
