Bucharest Tribunal seeks to hear Nicolae Popa via video conference from Indonesia

Magistrates with the Bucharest Tribunal seek to hear Nicolae Popa any way possible over the Sorin Ovidiu Vintu case, contemplating even a video conference. Towards this end, judges called on the Justice Ministry to inform them about Popa’s whereabouts in Indonesia. The Bucharest Tribunal on Tuesday heard the case wherein Sorin Ovidiu Vantu is charged with favouring offender Nicolae Popa, who was sentenced in connection with the National Investment Fund (FNI) case. After ten minutes in court, Vantu said he was being tried for helping a friend with EUR 20,000 and that the SRI , acting on President Basescu’s demand, created a special 40-strong department to attack him. Liviu Luca, president of the Petrom Free Trade Unions, was also heard in court on the same day.
