Court extends arrest warrant for the main suspect in the case of Cernavoda murders

The young man accused of murdering the Garoafa family – husband and wife – of Cernavoda will stay behind bars, as the Constanta Tribunal extended his preventive arrest warrant by 30 more days. The decision is not final and may be challenged in a higher court. Giani Deli-Iorga was preventively arrested on January 6, for murdering Elena (55) and Petre Garoafa (62) in their apartment of Cernavoda. Each of the two victims was stabbed 25-30 times, the same day when their daughter, Elena Mitu was drowned in the Danube-Black Sea Canal by her husband Bogdan, who also committed suicide when he jumped in the water with his wife.
