The independents obtain three leading positions in Senate committees

The senators in the independent group obtained, yesterday, three leading positions in the permanent committees – chair of the European Affairs Committee, deputy president of the Foreign Affairs Committee and secretary in the Public Health Committee. These modifications in the hierarchy of the permanent committees, negotiated beforehand with the leaders of parliamentary groups in the Senate, were validated by the assembly with 75 votes “in favour”, four votes “against” and three blank votes. Thus, the European Affairs Committee, whose founding was approved, on the same occasion, by the Senate, will be chaired by the independent senator Vasile Nedelcu. At the same time, the independent senator Ovidius Marcutianu becomes deputy president of the Foreign Affairs Committee, while the independent senator Corneliu Grosu will act as the secretary of the Public Health Committee.
