The Romanian National Roads and Highways Company (CNADNR) opened all the 64 bids made for the Nadlac-Arad, Timisoara-Lugoj, Lugoj-Deva and Orastie-Sibiu highway sections, HotNews reports. The keenest interest in contracting the works was shown by the companies Impresa Pizzarotti, Tirrena Scavi, Astaldi and Strabag, which made bids for all the four sections. However, other companies, such as Spedition UMB (owned by Dorinel Umbrarescu) and the Spanish firm FCC Construction, have tried to ensure more chances of winning, bidding for three of the sections. Most of the bidders have made joint offers, in consortiums of two or three companies. Most of the bidding companies are foreign. The Romanian ones include companies like UMB, Romstrade, Tehnostrade, SCCF Iasi and Hidroconstructia.
