Rombat turnover up 30 pc in 2010

Rombat Bistrita closed 2010 with a turnover of almost EUR 67 M, up by 30 pc compared to the preceding year, a press release informs. For 2011, the car accumulator manufacturer estimates a turnover of over RON 321 M and set, as a target, the selling of 2,260,000 of car batteries. Approximately 54 pc of the Bistrita production goes to exports, mainly on the French market, where Rombat claims a 10 pc-market share. At a local level, Rombat claims 65 pc of the total market and 53 pc of the after market segment. At the same time, the biggest car battery-maker in Romania is becoming more actively involved in environmental protection and, to this purpose, started, last year, to develop its recycling unit in Copsa Mica. According to representatives of the company, in the course of this month, Rombat will also start running the waste battery crushing and sorting plant.

Last year, Rombat invested EUR 7.9 M in Rebat Copsa Mica, an amount allotted to the development of a facility for waste battery recycling and the extraction of lead and other raw materials needed in the company’s production process.
