Disaffected MIGs sent to archbishoprics, ministries and local councils

The Roman and Bacau Archbishopric, the ministries of Education, Transports and Internal Affairs, as well as several local councils were offered, by the Government, MIG 21 and IAR 93 planes, without the military equipment, amounting to a total RON 2.33 M. The transfer of these assets, in the public patrimony of the state and managed by the National Defence Ministry, was decided by a recently approved Government resolution.

According to the document, the planes transferred to the Roman and Bacau Archbishopric will be used by the “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” Missionary Charity Centre in Bacau and the “Holy Apostles” Parish in Moinesti (Bacau County), while the machines transferred to the ministries will be used by the National Aeronautical Research Institute, the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University in Iasi (the Education Ministry), the Romania Air Club (the Ministry of Transports) and the General Aviation Inspectorate (the Ministry of Administration and Internal Affairs).
