Italian PM Berlusconi has surgery to fix jaw

Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi underwent four hours of facial surgery yesterday to repair damage he suffered when a man hurled a statuette at him in 2009, The Independent reports. Mr Berlusconi, 74, suffered a broken nose and two broken teeth when the man – who had a history of psychological problems – threw a small statue of Milan’s cathedral at him at the end of a political rally in December 2009.
