Costica Argint, sentenced to three and a half years in prison for outrage against morality and released on parole three days ago, announced, yesterday, he would sue the Romanian state. “I will sue the Romanian state because I was not legally subpoenaed at my official residence and I was unable to defend myself. This is how I ended up serving a three years and six months sentence, defying the rights enshrined in the Romanian Constitution, according to which every citizen is entitled to legal defence. I will ask for damages and, if I get them, I will donate the money to an orphans’ home,” Costica Argint stated, in a press conference in Focsani. He stated that he had never hidden or run from the law, adding that he was the object of only one investigation in Italy, in which he is yet to be heard. Furthermore, he threatened that, when he found his freedom was no longer at risk, he would make statements “which would shock Romania”.
