UNSAR underwritten policies hit RON 6.92 bln in 2010

The underwritten general and life insurance premiums of the member companies of the National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (UNSAR) came up to RON 6.92 bln in late 2010, 82.7 per cent of the overall market, according to a press release. UNSAR figures take into account the underwritten premiums of 21 members, save for Uniqa Asigurari de Viata, which began operating in April 2010. General insurance underwritten premiums totalled RON 5.51 bln, 82.2 per cent of the entire general insurance market. On the life insurance segment, insurance policies total RON 1.41 bln, 84.5 per cent. According to UNSAR data, the top five general insurers, according to the volume of underwritten premiums, are Astra – RON 1.09 bln, Allianz-Tiriac – RON 939.2 M, Groupama – RON 743.5 M, BCR Asigurari – RON 522.01 M and Asirom – RON 445.81 M.
