Formula1: Brawn hopeful as Schumacher goes fastest

Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher set the fastest time on the fourth and final day of pre-season F1 testing on Friday, supersport.com informs. Schumacher, preparing for his second season with Mercedes since coming out of retirement, clocked 1min 21.268sec, with another former world champion, Fernando Alonso, second in his Ferrari. Schumacher’s team-mate, Nico Rosberg, took third. The German endured a low-key return last season, finishing ninth behind his compatriot Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, but Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn said he was “quite encouraged” by Schumacher’s performance at the Circuit de Catalunya.
