3 youngsters in custody for blackmailing private clinic management

Prosecutors with the Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation Department (DIICOT) yesterday apprehended three individuals who had illegally copied computer data belonging to a medical clinic in Bucharest and blackmailed its managers, demanding EUR 300,000 not to publish patient confidential data on the Internet. Prosecutors say that Alin-Alexandru Alexandrescu, 34, Ecaterina-Luminita Alexandrescu, 30 and Ciprian-Andrei Necula, 20, set up an organized crime ring aimed at obtaining substantial amounts of money by compromising the IT system of a medical clinic in Bucharest and threatening with making patient confidential data available on the Internet. Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning they were caught while getting the money.
