Japan disaster cancels Skating WC

The World Figure Skating Championship was scheduled to start on March 21 in Tokyo but the International Skating Union announced that the event will be canceled, realitatea.net informs. At first the International Skating Union had announced that the natural disaster in Sendai would not affect the competition. Nevertheless, Germany was the first country to announce that none of its skaters would take part in the competition in Japan. On Monday the International Skating Union announced that the World Figure Skating Championship will be canceled. The World Team Trophy in Figure Skating, a competition scheduled to take place in Yokohama on April 14-17, has also been canceled.
