Tax Agency declares EUR 1.7 bln-damages to state budget

The National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF) announced, yesterday, that it evaluated damages brought, last year, to the general consolidated budget at EUR 1.7 bln, following over 10,000 inspections, Mediafax reports. The damages were reported by the financial-fiscal inspection bodies, namely, the Financial Guard, the National Customs Authority and Fiscal Inspection and Financial Control bodies from the central apparatus and local units. Their number is approximately 25 per cent higher compared to 2009, and the value of damages 24 pc is higher, compared to the preceding year. The largest portion of damages were found by the Fiscal Inspection and Financial Control bodies (56 pc of the total), following 3,907 inspections (29 pc of the total). The number of inspections in which tax evasion instances were found rose by 77 pc in 2010, compared to 2008, and the value of damages is 66 pc higher. The Tax Agency did not provide any information regarding the amounts recovered or measures taken to this effect by the institution.
