Teachers might be banned to go on strike during exams

The Senate passed yesterday a draft law initiated by PDL, which forbids teachers to go on strike during the baccalaureate and the national evaluation exam at the end of the secondary education cycle, Realitatea TV announces. The Upper House passed the draft law with 43 votes to 37. The senators of PSD and PNL opposed the act, saying that the ruling coalition is actually trying to limit teachers’ right to go on strike, rather than protect the pupils, as the law was advertised. PSD Senator Toni Grebla accused that, although apparently harmless, the project “randomly” chooses two moments of the school year and complicates things in the Education system. “This draft law can drastically limit the teachers’ right to go on strike,” the Senator explained.
