Romanian sentenced to 18 years in prison for murder

A Romanian was sentenced to serve 18 years in prison in Italy, for a murder committed last year, according to daily ‘La Voce’ online, quoted by Mediafax. Catalin Costel Neacsu, 27, was found guilty of having stabbed Italian Salvator Lochi, 59, in April 2010. The victim died after two months in the hospital. The motive for murder was apparently robbery, given that the Romanian needed money at the time to return to his native country with his wife and children, prosecutors said. The prosecution initially demanded that Neacsu be sentenced to 24 years in prison, but the judge sentenced him to 18.
