Mioveni produces 4 millionth Dacia

The auto plant in Mioveni has produced four million Dacia vehicles so far, Automobile Dacia, a company controlled by France’s Renault Group, announced on Friday. The 4 millionth vehicle was a Dacia Duster 4×4 model, Laureate version, with a 1.5-liter dCI 110-HP engine. According to a Dacia communiqué, the car was bought by a 58-year-old Romanian doctor. The company pointed out that the time it takes for the auto plant to build one million vehicles has dropped from 17 years (the time it took to build the first million) to 3 years and five months currently. The one million threshold was reached in 1985, the two million threshold in 1998 and the three million threshold in 2007. “These successive cuts were backed by investments of approximately EUR 1.2 bln in the Mioveni platform,” the communiqué reads. Currently half of the 65 vehicles assembled in Mioveni every hour are Dusters, the model registering over 100,000 orders at international level until now. Launched in March 2010, the model is the leader on its market segment in Romania with 4,826 units sold last year.
