Athletics: Nicoleta Grasu wins silver at European Cup

On Sunday, day two of the European Athletics Cup in Sofia, a competition reserved for throwing events, Romania won two medals. Nicoleta Grasu won silver in the seniors’ discus throw event, while Bianca Perie won gold in the juniors’ hammer throw event, Agerpres informs. On Saturday Romania’s Sergiu Ursu won a bronze medal in the men’s discus throw event. Nicoleta Grasu, multiple winner of Olympic medals, world and European champion, won silver with a 59.44-meter throw. Russia’s Olesia Korotkova won gold with a 60.2-meter throw, while Russia’s Vera Ganeva won bronze with a 57.45-meter throw. Romania’s Bianca Perie won gold in the juniors’ (U-20) event with a 67.38-meter throw.
