Open lecture on George Enescu at Verona Conservatory

On Thursday, the “Evaristo Felice Dall’Abaco” Music Conservatory in Verona will host an open lecture for the students of the prestigious music university. The open lecture will be offered by Laura Manolache, director of the “George Enescu” National Museum, and Alexandra Solea, representative of the “George Enescu” International Festival. On this occasion, Ioana Croitoru, lecturer within the Bucharest National University of Music’s violin chair, will deliver a lecture titled “Echoes of Paganini in George Enescu’s work”, which will address the three caprices composed by Niccolò Paganini, for which Enescu composed the piano accompaniment.

The event is part of the “George Enescu in Italy” tour, organized by the Romanian Culture and Humanist Research Institute in Venice, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute. The lecture is meant to acquaint Italian students who attend the conservatories in the four cities included in the tour (Venice, Verona, Turin and Rome) with the life and work of the greatest Romanian composer, as well as promote the 20th edition of the “George Enescu” International Festival and Competition which will take place in Bucharest in September.
