Policemen and prosecutors conducted 11 home searches in Bucharest, directed at two criminal groups specialised in car thefts, which operated in Romania and abroad, Mediafax informs. During their Wednesday operations, the officers of the Auto Theft Prevention Department and prosecutors of the Bucharest District 1 Tribunal served 14 arrest warrants involving the members of two criminal rings, Bucharest Police spokeswoman Diana Sarca told Mediafax. The subjects are suspected of stealing cars and parts from luxury vehicles (such as rear mirrors) on Romanian soil and abroad. In Romania, the thieves operated in Bucharest and in the counties of Brasov, Iasi, Salaj, Arad, Satu Mare and Cluj, Sarca explained. The suspects will be questioned at the headquarters of the Auto Theft Prevention Department.
