Alexandra Gatej, re-elected President of AmCham Romania

The members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) elected the new Board of Directors for a new mandate, March 2011-March 2012. According to a press release, following internal elections, the make-up of AmCham Romania’s new Board of Directors is, as follows: President – Alexandra Gatej, Maldon & Wat; Deputy presidents: Carmen Neagu, General Electric; Ionut Simion, PwC; Treasurer – Peter Weiss, Bancpost.

The following were elected members on the Board of Directors: Wolfgang Schoiswohl – the Romanian Commercial Bank, Tibor Pandi – Citibank, Pascal Prigent – GlaxoSmithKline, Radu Enache – Hewlett-Packard, Bogdan Balaci – IBM Romania, Ronald Binkofski – Microsoft, Anca Todor – Salans.

A former presidential advisor, Alexandra Gatej was elected in this office once before, in 2008, when she was also the head of Unilever South Central Europe, and now replaces Sorin Mindrutescu, director general of Oracle Romania.

“I am honoured by this new opportunity to continue my previous engagement as a member of the AmCham Board and President of the organization. I return with a wide expertise in the business environment and a recent experience in the public administration, and I trust that, along with my fellow Board Members, we will actively promote AmCham’s agenda for a solid business environment and AmCham’s vision for increasing our country’s competitiveness,” stated AmCham’s new President.
