AIBA cancels Romanian boxers’ suspension

The International Boxing Federation (AIBA) has cancelled the suspension it ruled against Romanian boxers and referees, maintaining however its decision in what concerns the Romanian Boxing Federation (FRB), FRB President Rudel Obreja stated on Saturday for Mediafax. “The suspension ruled against Romanian boxers and referees has been lifted, however AIBA maintains the two-year sanction it ruled against the Romanian Boxing Federation, a Federation against which it also issued a CHF 5,000 fine. I don’t understand what this suspension consists of, given that the boxers and referees can take part in international competitions,” Rudel Obreja pointed out. AIBA suspended FRB President Rudel Obreja after the Olympic Games in Beijing where the Romanian official accused some AIBA officials of manipulating referees.
