Priest avoids going to jail, having killed a woman on pedestrian crossing

Bogdan Nicolae Dumitru, a Calarasi priest who last year committed a hit-and-run accident, killing a woman on a pedestrian crossing and fleeing the scene, managed to escape going to prison, according to Realitatea TV. Investigators into the case learned that, at the time of the accident, the priest had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.75 g/dL The priest was handed a three-year suspended sentence, yet he has recently been released. “I would like that justice be done here, on Earth, at the soonest. The law in Calarasi says that those without money, wealth, stand to lose,” Alexandru Simionescu, the victim’s son, said.
