Ioan Grigorescu’s final farewell to “spectacle of the world”

The journalist and writer Ioan Grigorescu, the host of the popular and record-running TV programme “Spectacolul lumii” (The Spectacle of the World), died, on Sunday, aged 80, “Romania Libera” reports.
The most significant portion of Ioan Grigorescu’s body of work remain the more than 15 volumes of collected articles and travelogues, including “Zigzag pe mapamond” (Zigzagging the World), “Paradisul murdar” (The Tainted Paradise), “Dilema americana” (The American Dilemma), “Al 5-lea punct cardinal” (The Fifth Cardinal Point). At the same time, Ioan Grigores­cu wrote 20 feature film screenplays. In the ‘90s, he written and directed over 400 episodes of the programme “Spectacolul lumii”, a TV series on “travel art”, shot in over 50 countries.
