CSAT allows US aircraft to operate on Romanian airports

The Supreme Defense Council (CSAT) on Monday authorized the use of Romanian aerodromes by US aircraft, as part of the operation aimed at enforcing the air embargo against Libya. According to a press release issued by the Presidency, the CSAT “analysed the dislodgement and operation on Romanian airfields of aircraft belonging to the US Air Force, for midair refuel operations, as part of the operation aimed at enforcing Resolution 1973 of the UN Security Council.” “In compliance with legal procedures, after consulting the members of the Council, the president of Romania approved this request and will subsequently inform the Parliament,” reads the release.
