Duster to be assembled in Brazil and Russia

Dacia Renault auto manufacturer will start to assemble Duster SUVs in Brazil in August this year and in Russia starting in Q1 of 2012, ‘La Tribune’ informs, being quoted by HotNews.ro. Also next year Dusters will be assembled in Columbia and in India. The cars will be produced under the Renault aegis in all these countries. The car started to be produced in Mioveni early last year, with 68,000 units being sold, 5,000 of which in Romania.

Logan and Sandero models have been produced for years in Brazil’s Curitiba, with Sandero being basically launched for the first time in the world in South America, several months before its launching in Europe in the spring of 2008.

Dusters will start to be assembled within the Avtoframos plant outside Moscow in January or February 2012. The Logan hatchback has been assembled there since 2005, with over 300,000 units being sold. The Sandero model is produced by the same plant and investments are being made in expanding the plant.
Prices for Dacia Duster recently grew in Romania by EUR 200 for the 4×2 versions and by EUR 100 for the 4×4 versions, so that the price now starts off from EUR 11,150. The starting price stands at EUR 11,990 in countries such as Germany and France. The SUV will enter the British market in 2012.

Dacia climbed, last year, to the fifth place, from the sixth in 2009, in a ranking based on the highest carbon emissions of the 20 major European car brands, according to a study conducted by the car consultancy firm Jato Dynamics, quoted by Mediafax.
